Main Temporary Visa Categories
Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV)
Requirements:
- You must meet Health and Character
- You must have genuine intentions to meet the conditions of your visa
- You must have a full-time job offer
- You must proof there are no New Zealanders available to do the job you have been offered
- You must be qualified and/or have the right experience to do the job you have been offered
- You must not be subject to a stand-down period (have to spend 12 consecutive months outside New Zealand)
- Depending on your occupation you may or may not need a New Zealand occupational registration
Partnership Visa
Requirements:
- Health and Character
- Evidence that you are living together with your partner in a genuine and stable relationship at the time the application is made.
- Your partner must:
- be eligible to support you
- meet the character requirement for partners supporting partnership-based temporary entry applications’
- intend to be in New Zealand for the period you apply for in your application
Student Visa
Requirements:
- You must meet Health and Character
- You must have genuine intentions to meet the conditions of your visa
- You must have a offer of place from an approved education provider
- You must have enough money to pay in full your tuition fees, unless you are exempt from it
- You must have an onward travel ticket or enough funds to purchase one in your bank account
- If you want to work for up to 20 hours a week you must have written permission to work if you are 16 or 17 years old (or in year 12 or 13 of secondary school)
- You must be able to to provide information about your holidays if you are wanting to work full-time
- occupational registration

Post Study Work Visa
Requirements:
- You must meet Health and Character
- You must have genuine intentions to meet the conditions of your visa
- You must have completed a qualification in New Zealand which is eligible
- You must apply within 3 months of your student visa expiry date (or 6 months for doctorates)
- You must be qualified and/or have the right experience to do the job you have been offered
- You must have a minimum of $5000 when you apply
Visitor Visa
Requirements:
- You must meet Health and Character
- You must have genuine intentions to meet the conditions of your visa
- You must have at least NZD $1,000 per month (or NZD $400 per month excluding accommodation)
- Health costs must be paid by you
- You must have an onward travel ticket or enough funds to purchase one in your bank account
- you can include your partner and children (up to 19 years of age)
Working Holiday Visa
Requirements:
- You must have an onward travel ticket or enough funds to purchase one in your bank account
- You must be coming primarily on vacation, and secondarily with the intention of working or studying
